Students in China have created a machine which allows you to to do laundry without using electricity.
The Bike Washing Machine has been created by students from the Dalian Nationalities University in China and fuses off-grid living with modern-day necessity.
While the idea of off-grid living appeals to many people, the logistical difficulties of completing necessary every day tasks put a lot of people off.
The bike, nicknamed the “BiWa” will no doubt appeal to those wishing to make expensive energy bills a thing a the past and embrace eco-friendly living in their own homes.
As reported by Truvie.com “When you ride this bike, the pedaling motion causes the drum of the washing machine to rotate, at the same time, the superfluous electricity is generated which can be used to power the display screen or stored for future use.”
The added electricity that is stored is an exciting added feature, as many people tempted by green energy are put off by the worry of the limitations of for example, solar panels that are only able to produce electricity in the right conditions.
While the drum of the Bike Washing Machine is smaller than a normal machine, it may not be suitable for everyone, but will no doubt seem an attractive prospect for single people or couples wishing to embrace eco-living.
The machine is not available to purchase just yet while the students make a bid for investors to produce the product on a large scale.
